@hawatribe: The Heritage of the Poi🖤🤍❤️ Poi is a traditional Māori art form from Aotearoa (New Zealand). The word poi means a “ball on a cord”. Traditionally, poi were made from natural materials like flax and were used for movement, skill, and performance. Long ago, poi helped Māori develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and wrist movement. It was also used in games, training, and cultural expression. Over time, poi became strongly connected with waiata (songs), kapa haka (Māori performing arts), and storytelling, especially through the movements of the dancers. Today, poi is a way of carrying Māori history, identity, and the voices of ancestors through dance. Each movement can represent connection, rhythm, and the passing down of knowledge through generations ❤️🤍🖤 Video credits: Maisey Rika waitī waiatā , the coconet tv - Poi explained, latashatakimoana, Kristan and rowan - maori stick & poi, hawaii Hong Kong guy - Ngā puna o waiōrea, lomani94 - NZ dance, playpoi- The history of poi dancing, Eyes on Newzealand - Poi Kia Mau, te maurea whiritoi - he puna aroha nā te puna, Audio credit: Maisey Rika waitī waiatā, the coconet tv - Poi explained @Māori Worldwide 🌀@LatashaTakimoana @The Coconet @temaureawhiritoi Stay tuned for more pacific pride!🌀💙 #māoripoi #poidancenz #māoridancing #maoriculture #hawatribe
