We took our 2.5 year old to Queenstown last winter and we had the best time! It was freezing but we just dressed to the conditions. He ate ice cream most days 😂 but we were wanting a winter holiday so we were expecting it to be cold. We did so many activities! I think it’s very family friendly. We will definitely go back 😍

This sounds more of a parenting issue than a destination issue

I’m a kiwi and I wouldn’t take my toddler or small children to Queenstown till they are a bit older. Cool spot but I’ve been many times and would rate it more of an adult holiday than kid friendly in winter unless they already love the snow

Yeah it’s cold but you dress for it . Did you not do your research before you went

We are a family of 5 and returned home from a week in Queenstown last night. We all loved it. We spent 2 full days on coronet peak. I feel you perhaps didnt dress the kids warm enough and do your research. Uniqlo has amazing thermals. We dressed for their weather and at one point we were too hot while on the mountain. We caught a bus up to the mountain as it was the safest option.

I love Queenstown! but yes I must say that its not really a kiddies destination during the winter time, but so much fun for the adults 😅 I wouldn’t take my kids back there during the winter again, because yes its freezing, its busy and a lot of walking around.

if you bring them back you need to take them to wanaka and go to puzzle world

so far my assumption is no its not family friendly purely for the fact its so cold! looks like theres plenty of activities to do but not in the cold haha

Wait til kids can ski - we take our teens + 6 yr old every year & love it. But we all love snowboarding.

the ludge was ridiculous an hour and a half wait for one ride not even us adults could hack anymore than one ride so I fully understand your kids 😂♥️

I went just a few weeks ago with friends I wouldn’t recommend it as a family trip but definitely couple and girls trip!

We went with a 4 and 7 year old and absolutely loved it. They keep asking to go back to the snow and skiing. But yeah you definitely have to dress in 500 layers

I think Queenstown is somewhere you REALLY need to plan carefully of you have a family and prepare for long lines at things and that its going to be cold being at the bottom of the south and it is the middle of winter,Next time try a different destination there I more than just Queenstown to New Zealand 😊
