You are correct. My mum used to wash our clothes by hand, but as I was growing up, I asked my dad why he did not buy a washing machine. He said he did not know anything about washing machine. He could afford it, but it was just ignorance.

Growing up, my siblings and I used to eat as if we were in a food competition. 😂 We ate about four times a day and still thought we were poor because our neighbors looked more “exposed” and seemed to have more money. Years later, I realized many of those same neighbors were eating just twice a day, while we never lacked food. We simply didn’t understand things like balanced diets, budgeting, or that different families have different lifestyles. Looking back now, I realize it wasn’t always about who had more money, it was often about exposure, knowledge, and perspective. Sometimes, what we see isn’t the full picture.

I rem I always go to my friends house to. play games, he will be doing any hw towards us bcos of game only to find out Sega is just 2k back den..... omo I gathered 50naira for just a month n collected d remaining money from dad to buy d game... he was even happy bcos at least we'll be staying indoor

the fact then is than responsibilities are very much, then parents use to have 4 or more children, it's difficult to spend on luxurious things then.. but now our generation has 1 to 2 kids, so it's easier to spend and move on, it's even easy to make money now than then... it's just time
