Thank you, Sir Keir Starmer. History will remember you as the Prime Minister who inherited a country facing enormous challenges after years of political instability and worked to rebuild it with determination and a sense of public service. Whether people agreed with every decision or not your leadership was guided by what you believed was in the best interests of the United Kingdom. For me you will always be remembered as a strong and thoughtful leader. While I may have disagreed with your handling of Jeremy Corbyn I respected your commitment to your principles your calm approach to leadership and your focus on governing rather than chasing headlines. I only wish you had been able to complete your full term. It feels like your work was unfinished and I believe there was more you wanted to achieve for the country. Time often gives a clearer perspective than the political debates of the moment and I hope your contribution will be judged fairly in the years ahead. The modern media environment along with misinformation and highly partisan coverage can make it difficult for governments to communicate their achievements. Regardless of political views this period will be studied as an important chapter in British history and future generations will draw their own conclusions about its significance. Thank you for your service to the country. I wish you and your family all the very best for the future.
