Why didn’t God stop that relationship from hurting you? This truth may bring you to tears. When a relationship is not right for you, God may allow it to hurt you. You may have asked: “Why didn’t God stop this?” Please listen carefully. God has not abandoned you. The Bible says: “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Sometimes, God allows pain not to destroy you, but to protect you. Because He sees what you cannot see. He knows you are holding on. He knows you are still hoping. You keep saying: “Maybe he will change.” “Maybe it will get better.” But God sees further. He sees that this relationship is draining your heart, and slowly pulling you away from the path He prepared for you. So He allows certain things to happen: a word, a betrayal, a disappointment, a night of tears. Not as punishment, but as awakening. Romans 8:28 says: “All things work together for good to those who love God.” Even this hurt, God can turn into something good. Today you may finally understand why some doors had to close. God is teaching you to discern: who is meant to stay, and who was only a season in your life. Your heart is worth protecting, not constantly being drained. You deserve a relationship that brings you closer to God, not one that slowly empties your soul. You may still be hurting today, but one day you will thank God for not letting that person stay. When God closes a door, He is often protecting you and preparing a better one. His plan is always greater than what you are struggling to let go of.
