I walked into a doctors appt, they asked how I was and I said I’ve not had the best week, and they replied “oh so you know about the cancer then?” - I did not know about the cancer 😳

they always do this on a friday weekend too so you cant even ring anyone till monday and it ruins your weekend

This type of thing kept happening to my mum after she was diagnosed with stomach cancer. We went in for her biopsy results and there was a Macmillan nurse in the corner 😭 then after her staging laparoscopy there was an update on her NHS app that just said "patient added to gold list for hospice care" we were like oh great 😃👍🏻 stage 4 then is it 😭 Literally all we could do was laugh because what was the alternative

Also had this whilst waiting for breast biopsy results, I was also assigned a breast care nurse, but mine was benign. I think they overshare to be safe, but it is terrifying! Hoping you get good results 🤞

my husband found out on a Friday he had cancer at 1630. on Monday the doctors called and said congrats your blood results were all good.. my husband broke down and said he has just been diagnosed with cancer.. the silence was loud.. the doctor said they hadn't been informed yet 🤦🏼♀️

I was told that I should bring someone with me to my appointment to discuss my biopsy results… it’s was cancer. Wasn’t really a shock in the appointment at that point

They did the same to me when waiting. Obv assumed the worst but they said it was just standard protocol and didn’t mean anything (I didn’t end up having cancer) x

Ah I’m sorry. This happened to me too, found out I had cancer from the NHS app at 7am on a Sunday morning and couldn’t speak to anyone about it for over 24 hours. Was awful. Is there anything in the documents section or results section that gives you any more info?

The hospital share this information with anyone undergoing a breast biopsy. Some people access Macmillan support while undergoing investigations, even if it turns out not to be cancer. Completely normally to be stressed in this time, but this shouldn’t add to your reason to worry. Wishing you all the best <3

the NHS app is honestly the worst thing to have. I had a colonoscopy a couple years ago and seen my results on there before being contacted by the doctor. basically saying I was being referred onto the cancer pathway for suspected colon/bowel cancer. thankfully it wasn't, but the information you can see on there before being contacted with results is no good 😭

I logged onto my NHS app a couple of weeks ago and found a referral for the 2 week wait - suspected skin cancer. From June 2025. They just ‘forgot’ to refer me. 😁😁😁😁 Had I not checked the app at all I’d have never known about it.

Hi girl this happened to me, I complained and they said when you sign up it does say you may find sensitive information. Not only did I get this but I received a letter from oncology before I was told in person I was distraught. I’m now 4 years in remission. Stage 2 Breast cancer at 25. Xx

This is how my mum found out she had bowel cancer. They then made her wait two weeks to find what grade even though they had already posted biopsie results 🥲
