@supremefujicommander: When the history of Fuji music is written, one name stands above the rest—Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister (MFR). Widely regarded as the creator and chief architect of modern Fuji music, Barrister did more than develop a new musical genre; he introduced it to audiences beyond Nigeria, making Britain one of the first international homes of Fuji. In the 1970s, Fuji was still largely associated with Yoruba communities in southwestern Nigeria. While many saw it as a local form of entertainment, Barrister envisioned something much bigger. He transformed the traditional Islamic were music into a sophisticated genre by blending elements of Apala, Sakara, Juju, Highlife, and rich Yoruba percussion. His innovation gave Fuji a unique sound that appealed to listeners from different backgrounds. As the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom continued to grow during the late 1970s and 1980s, Barrister seized the opportunity to take Fuji abroad. He organized concert tours across England, especially in London, where thousands of Nigerians and other Africans gathered to experience authentic Fuji performances. His concerts became major cultural events, connecting members of the diaspora with their heritage while also introducing British audiences to Yoruba music.
