@monomukundu: ALICK MACHESO IMPROMPTU JAM WITH DEVERA NGWENA-A Master Paying Tribute to His Masters As you know I am in Chimanimani with a team including the legendary Dr. Jonah Moyo. We had an event on Friday 3 July,2026, that concluded with an Alick Macheso performance. So when Macheso arrived, he had no idea we were there, and even more importantly, he had no idea one of his greatest inspirations, Jonah Moyo, was present.He was visibly overjoyed and asked me, "Are my eyes deceiving me? Devera Ngwena is here? I can't believe this". He then invited Dr. Jonah and Mdara Johnsai Machinya on stage for an impromptu jam session of Devera Ngwena Jazz Band's 1980 classic hit, 'Gremma Wepamoyo'.Macheso played the song's actual bass line to demonstrate that it was one of the songs he practiced with as a beginner. Macheso is well known for his humility and respect for other musicians, as well as his honor to those who inspired him. I took out my phone and captured the historic moment on video.
