faith :
this is so true. i love takes like this. we need to be able to express negative/not-so-positive views on characters without it being seen as hate, because, correct me if i’m wrong but: this doesn’t seem like hate to me, nor does it seem like anything nearing hate. i love to see these takes on pure vanilla because it highlights how saviour complexes aren’t all black and white, and that they often lead the character *with* said saviour complex to subconsciously place themselves above others when it comes to being able to understand the nuances of others in need. (LITERALLY SHOWN TO US by the line: ‘*only* I can understand you.’ pure vanilla is not saying that he is one of many cookies who can understand shadow milk, he isn’t even claiming he is * one of* the only cookies who can understand shadow milk, he is claiming that he is the *ONLY* cookie who can understand shadow milk. which, is outright ignorant. he downplays not only, but mainly: the other four beast’s experiences as former virtues in saying this. the ancients, too, have gone through hurt: but such hurt has not led them to corruption, [p.ps., i don’t think truthless recluse and guardian of paradise or whatever hollyberry’s side of the matching costume set is called are ‘corrupted/have gone through corruption’: because i view that as them giving up because they believe it is the only viable option which will allow them to keep their HIGHLY OBSESSIVE OTHER HALVES at bay by giving them their loyalty and let their friends/loved ones/cookies in general stay safe in the process. backed up the the line truthless relcuse says to the gingergang — and this is paraphrased because i can’t remember the exact wording, nor a wording that is even remotely similar to this line’s original structure: ‘prisoner? i stay here in the spire of my own volition, you should leave while you still can.’] not yet, and most likely not ever. so, looking at this through the lens i would propose the game *wants* us to, the hurt the ancients have gone through is objectively *not as bad*. if the agony the beasts went through was enough to cause them to corrupt, why does he think that: as someone who has only been through enough (1/???)
