Can I ask if your daughter has ever been bothered by her appearance? My daughter has very bad sensory issues with food, she barely eats 😔 I had to fight for her to been seen by a dietitian, they discharged her there and then with no advice due to her not being under weight (she isn’t big she’s only a little dot). I spoke with a Sen lady regarding arfid and was told my daughter wouldn’t have it as she passed comments about her appearance 😖

I’m 18 I got an NG tube for the same reason I used to have a bit of a verity of a diet then I lost those safe foods bc they tasted different etc and I couldn’t tolerate the supplements I tried yogurts, milkshakes and juice ever since my ng tube has been placed I gained 1 safe food back which is dairy milk chocolate i even tried vanilla ice cream again and liked it so definitely less anxiety 🥰

The thing she does with her hands in the pink sweatshirt is something I do as well. I find that most of us with Arfid do those hand gestures when we are having difficulty tolerating the food

thank you for telling her story and making so many other parents feel seen ❤️my 14 year old currently has an NG tube after being diagnosed with arfid and SMAS. she's finally starting to enjoy her safe foods again and is gaining weight back!

My feeding tube saved my life and allowed me to start eating/drinking again. ARFID is so hard and I wish feeding tubes were used sooner. It removed soooo much stress which was making healing impossible (for me)

my daughter is 14 and I worry the NG will cause her to gag because she also has emetaphobia, did the NG cause gagging and discomfort in the throat?

We’re just home from hospital where my 6yo got a peg feeding tube in, he can’t have NG tube for medical reasons. His is due to ARFID too, it’s so difficult isn’t it. All you wish for them is to be able to eat and enjoy childhood like everyone else. All the best to you and Eva, she’s gorgeous x

i am 55 yrs old and autistic my diet is also very very minimal, its hell for others but we, that has a limit is quite happy with our few bits we eat 😁

Wow you have pretty much summed up life with my daughter . Had her NG fitter a year ago . Cant believe the difference this has made to us either . were now waiting on a decision on a peg Hope everything continues to go well . xxx

My wee boy has AFRID too. He stopped eating anything except paper ( he also has PICA) he's is surviving on cows milk and paediasure plus supplement milk! He's on the waiting last to be fitted with a PEG tube, he won't tolerate the MY tube. You're wee girl's story gives me and my wee boy hope!! Thank you ! 🤗🥰 xxx

Man my son is like this. He didn't even have solid foods/ baby food until 10 months because he refused, as a toddler he ate blueberries and puffs, now at 10 he will eat pizza, fries, apples, strawberries, the occasional grilled cheese, and chips/goldfish. The other day he tried ice cream for the first time!

I’m 19 and also tube fed for the same reasons and since having my ng tube I’ve become so much better at trying new foods!

two of my children are like this, it's a massive battle no diagnosis sometimes they refuse to eat and other times they find a safe food then they go off it
