I left 9 years ago. If anyone is reading this afraid to leave, I promise you can do it. It is scary, it is hard. But, the peace, the calm, and the weight lifted is absolutely unbeatable. Our babies deserve to see what actual, healthy, love is. What peace is. Whether it’s as a single parent, or, with a healthy partner. Make the plan, make the decision, and never ever look back. Do it for your babies. 🫶🏼 I promise, you can do it. I did.

I left 6 years ago, best decision I ever made. We do 50/50 and she does get angry at me a lot for it but both her step parents love her and I promise one day she will understand why I did what I had to do.

I’m a bird. I stayed. He’s stepping up now, but it’s almost impossible to forgive him. I still couldn’t process the trauma when I left, still not able to process it now that I came back. I’m just existing.

Emily… these are the exact thoughts in my head every night as I look at my son. My heart still breaks knowing I’ll be giving him a broken family. But I pray that one day he’ll understand why I chose peace over pretending. And when the time comes for him to love someone, I hope he never loves the way his father loved me. I pray he loves better... more gently, more deeply, and more fully. May he become the kind of man who makes love feel safe, never lonely.
