The minimum wage increases faster than the raises. I worked somewhere for 6 years and my trainee was starting at a higher wage than me just because of minimum wage.

Gen X here, I agree with the millennial on this one. The best way to make money is to change jobs every few years. There is no benefit to staying loyal.

Yeppp it’s the worst part about working in 2026 is having to move jobs every 2 years to be able to earn enough

They hired a new guy at my job and paid him more than me. I'm the team lead in my shop. Luckily for me, I brought it to my supervisor and he got me a significant raise. It took HR a little while to do it but he stayed on them about it.

No pensions, no good benefits, and if you get an annual raise it’s never over the inflation rate.

My company made it blatantly obvious that I can no longer get raises or move up so I’m moving to another company after only 2 years with a 10k a year salary increase

I had a manager once tell me “get your experience and get the fuck out”. Bounce after 3-5 years (unless they’re offering you promo or more $)

this one is honestly a double edged sword. while switching jobs more frequently often well give you a higher paying job, you have to consider the perks. especially regarding retirement plans.

I would LOVE to stay with one company, but it just doesn't happen. There's too much toxic management, little to no movement/advancement, being overworked and underpaid, etc.

I got hired in 2021 for $20/hr. I worked my fucking ass off for my $27.25/hr. They're hiring new guys who can't even read a tape measure for $24.50/hr. I haven't actually gotten a merit based raise in 3 years. When my department is behind, we get told to pick it up. When every other department is behind, we get told to go help them, since my department is responsible for maintaining throughput.

I joined the Air Force at 17. stayed 20 years. then drove a truck with one company 18 years and retired with great pension and benefits, plus an amazing 401k.

So frikin true! 35 years at the same company. My only real advantage was the number of vacation weeks compared to others. Many others had higher wages than I did when they were hired. And I have to teach them!
