1. Healthcare. 2. Student loan debt. 3. Ridiculously high rent. 4. Most of the USA has no public transit at all or when there is transit it’s just inefficient. So they prefer driving. Literally cars and insurance eating up a big chunk of their salaries.

I’m confused too. Earning 40k in my country is very normal too. And my country has a higher cost of living than the US.

yall also don’t understand that the federal minimum wage is 7.25. you also don’t understand that you cannot find rent under 1000 dollars anywhere. most places rent is 1600+. new york has the highest cost of living in the united states, rent averages 3000 dollars a month.

Things are expensive in America but also you can’t underestimate their consumer capitalist culture. They buy so much STUFF that 70k doesn’t seem a lot.

Living paycheck to paycheck in a 6 bedroom mansion and a hellcat payment is still better than us living in a flat and driving an old golf whilst “saving”

most Americans do not make 70k a year most of us are actually making 30k or if we’re lucky 60k a year. I wish I made 70k then I wouldn’t be struggling so much
