I am 9 years older than you and this was one of my favorite movies at the time. I remember I had the stuffed animal collection that was available exclusively too. I think the department store was called Sears… And my grandfather took me to see it in the theater! So I would say probably about a 10 year age range (or so) for those of us that loved it.
