Not to mention if you fire people when they give notice it’s going to show other employees that they shouldn’t bother giving notice and should just quit on the spot and it won’t give the employer time to hire a replacement before they leave and will be down an employee until they do

In Australia if I hand in my notice (4 weeks in my job) and I am going to a competitor, they can finish me up straight away and I get paid for the 4 weeks but can’t start the new role until the 4 weeks is up.

She was still willing to work two more weeks because she gave notice and during that because they said that they don’t need her anymore and they let her go during that two weeks that she was willing to work they fired her. They let her go so yeah now it’s legal now they have to pay her.
