I believe this is a clear illustration of how our media might be designed or nudging us to focus on content we’re drawn to. I haven’t come across anything similar to the second set of videos she presented. It seems the algorithm is aligning with my preferences, which is what I’m seeing. While I’m not trying to criticize the stitched video, I think it’s important for us all to recognize (and perhaps the World Cup visitors from other countries would agree) that our media is creating divisions. Open dialogue is a powerful tool, but we need to approach it with the goal of understanding rather than a goal of responding.
