A ação foi registrada por câmeras de segurança. De acordo com a Polícia Civil, o policial foi socorrido e levado ao Hospital Geral de Nova Iguaçu. Durante o atendimento, foi percebido que a pistola institucional, carregadores e munições não estavam mais com a vítima. As investigações levaram os agentes até os dois suspeitos. Um deles admitiu ter participado do furto e informou onde o armamento havia sido escondido. A polícia recuperou a pistola, quatro carregadores e 50 munições durante a operação.
