⸻ The United States Is the Biggest Obstacle to Hayti’s Development and Stability The greatest obstacle to Hayti’s development and long-term stability is not internal incapacity, but sustained external interference—chief among it, the actions of the United States. For more than a century, U.S. political, economic, and military interventions have systematically undermined Hayti’s sovereignty, distorted its institutions, and blocked its natural path toward self-determined development. Through occupations, political engineering, economic coercion, and the backing of unaccountable leaders, the United States has repeatedly disrupted Haitian governance while presenting itself as a stabilizing force. In reality, these interventions have weakened state capacity, fueled corruption, and eroded public trust. Policies imposed in the name of “security” or “democracy” have instead entrenched dependency and instability. Economic pressure has been equally destructive. Trade policies, aid conditionality, and financial controls have constrained Hayti’s ability to build independent industries, protect local agriculture, and retain national wealth. Development has been subordinated to foreign interests, leaving the population to bear the costs of decisions made outside the country. Control over narratives has reinforced this system. By shaping international media coverage and diplomatic discourse, the United States deflects responsibility and portrays Hayti’s struggles as self-inflicted, masking the structural damage caused by decades of interference. This narrative justifies continued involvement while silencing Haitian voices demanding sovereignty and accountability. Stability cannot be imposed from abroad, and development cannot occur under coercion. As long as Hayti’s political choices, economic policies, and leadership are constrained by foreign approval, genuine progress will remain impossible. Hayti does not need guardianship. It needs space—space to govern itself, to define its priorities, and to rebuild its institutions free from external domination. True stability will come not from intervention, but from the end of interference and the full respect of Hayti’s right
