@milasmosaic: Maybe it’s the postpartum hormones, but this genuinely made me want to cry. From the fitting for the fashion show to the moment we actually walked together, there was this split second where we looked into each other’s eyes and I thought… we never really got this. We never had all of our families together celebrating us. We never got the excitement leading up to each event, the wedding planning, the proposal, the bridal moments, the dances, or the ruksathi. People always tell me, “Be glad you didn’t have to deal with the stress of planning a wedding,” or “Be glad you didn’t have to spend all that money.” And honestly… we didn’t have that kind of money to spend in the first place. 😂😭 But when people look back on their weddings, they have stories, memories, and moments they’ll cherish forever. It’s okay for me to wish I had some of those too. That doesn’t make me any less grateful for the life I have now. I love my husband, I love my kids, and I love the little family we’ve built. Every decision we made led us here, and I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. But sometimes I still mourn the moments that never happened. I wish I had gotten to be a bride. I wish I had a real proposal, a bridesmaid proposal, our first dance, a ruksathi, and all the little traditions that make those memories so special. Two things can be true at the same time,I can be deeply grateful for the beautiful life I have, while still feeling a little sad for the moments that could have been.
