@elly.psychologist: That voice telling you you're overreacting is not the whole truth, it's just one part of you, and treating it that way changes everything. The moment it starts up, you're too much, you're too needy, you need to fix yourself, try picturing it as separate from you rather than a fact you have to accept. Ask it to quieten for a bit, not permanently, just enough that you can hear what's actually going on underneath. Because underneath that overreacting feeling is usually something much simpler. An actual feeling that deserves attention. Are you anxious, sad, insecure, neglected, disregarded? Getting specific about what you're feeling, and why, gives you far more clarity than the label overreacting ever will. The next useful step is looking at behaviour rather than words. Words can be softened, reframed, or explained away in the moment, and that's often exactly what makes you feel like you're overreacting in the first place. Behaviour is harder to argue with. Ask yourself how long this has been happening, whether it's a pattern, and whether it's something you'd actually choose for yourself if you saw it clearly.
