The upper church is gorgeous. Mass there is tops. The CRYPT church though hits different. It’s more intimate. It creates as close a feeling to the early church fathers where they had to hide to worship. In the crypt church I feel more one on one with God.

If you are visiting, I highly suggest starting in the lower level to visit all the chapels first before going upstairs to the main Shrine. Nearby, you can also visit the Franciscan Monastery with it's beautiful grounds and church!!
