A lot of cats (& dogs) will also comfort nurse… a bit like a kid sucking their thumb. It helps them regulate. Even ones that never left their mom 😻

My kitten suckles like this too but she sucks on her own nipple and idk how to stop her, it’s getting red and irritated and nothing seems to distract her from it.
