@lifetomyyears: This is how my mom wakes up. Does anyone else experience this when caring for their parent who has dementia? I know it’s different for each person but I hope showing these moments helps someone know they aren’t alone in this. It absolutely sucks to see my mom this way. #creatorsearchinsights #caregiving #dementia #dementiacare

NURSE HERE. I hope if I ever lose my mind my kids won’t post it for the world to see. People with dementia are still people and worthy of respect and dignity.

Memory Care CNA here! check for UTIs make sure she isn’t getting dehydrated, because that can cause a lot of uncommon behaviors in somebody.

She’s uncomfortable in some way. Either pain, hunger, thirst, maybe she needs to use the restroom. She’s frustrated about something she needs to

Hospice nurse here. Majority of our patients have Alzheimer’s/Dementia. This is very normal as disease progresses. There are medications that her doctor could recommend to help with behaviors like this. If you aren’t able to take her to the doctor anymore then I would recommend to get Palliative or Hospice to come in. Hospice is not just for when someone is actively dying anymore. Hospice definitely could manage these symptoms and also give you support as a caregiver. You are not alone ♥️

I’m so sorry girl, this could most likely be because she wants something specific, like food, bathroom, another environment where she can feel more relax and not feel stuck. This can feel scary and anxious provoking but this is very common in dementia/alzheimer’s patient and being there reassuring them is the best comfort you can give. Hope all is well!!

Don't listen to what she says, there could be 50 different things bothering her right now and unfortunately she can't say what's bothering her...

I have worked in Dementia for years and I could never imagine filming my mom distressed. We are taught to treat people with dignity and respect. If someone cannot consent to being filmed then they should not be filmed

I would never post this if this was my mother. This isn’t for awareness, speak to medical professionals or support groups!
