Although I wish my dad asked me how I was doing more than he did, I also understand that my mom put him through hell and his dad was never around to show him how to be a great father. Just the kid me wish’s he would have asked more and dug deeper.

Did anyone ask him how his day was, how he was really doing?? I’ve asked my boys on many occasions how their getting on and telling them I’m always here if they need to chat and I’ll do my best to help! But never have they been completely open with me, my dad was always working when I grew up to provide our family with a good home and good life but I never really understood the things he sacrificed to provide for us. Speaking to him now he carries so much guilt and regret which I feel so sad for him. No man should feel that way when he has given his all to the people he loves. My dad is my hero and if I’m half the man/farther he is I’ll die a happy man

My dad was the same way but now that I’m older and have kids, I get it! Your responsible for taking care of them and unfortunately we all have to work and yes the world turns cause of money and I don’t care if you don’t agree but my dad worked his ass off for me and my family to have a house now cause he passed away a long time ago! Yeah he wasn’t there for me but that’s ok cause I still know he was watching out for me! I’m not like that with my kids, I actually love having a relationship with them but not all dads have time or energy for them cause they have to work but that’s ok cause they will thank you later for it.

I forgave my Father for not being there and being a dad just over 10 years ago. The best 10 years ever. I thank God for that time. The Sunday before Father's Day 2026 he passed. Now I really feel lost without him.
