Six Feet Under was my immediate thought, and I'm glad you said it. Sia's "Breathe Me" was perfect for that finale. I broke down into a ball of tears and my girlfriend at the time was concerned.

Scrolled a bit and haven't seen it mentioned, so I'll just throw out Fraiser as an honorable mention. I dont think its the best, but being the most successful spinoff character ever. And the whole episode pushing towards him trying a new career move to Cali, then to find out he couldnt let go of the hopeless romantic side of himself by going to Chicago.

Good analysis, but please touch on HIMYM and how that end destroyed the entire series including all the character growth between 2 main characters that happened over 3 seasons. All because they shot the final scene with the kids at the beginning not knowing how long the series would continue and then they couldn’t (in their minds) change it.
