This was my concern, and it may have cost me. I listed the consulting at the bottom, it was its own section and I said something like independent consulting between full-time roles for like 10+ years. I've wondered if the ATS still showed me as currently employed based on the dates and to your points, regardless of how it was distinguished on the resume and LinkedIn.

Funny, yesterday I came across another long time professional in the same career saying to add that consulting gig to the resume because it helps create a sense of need/urgency. Like your a hot commodity and they need to get you 🤔

Thriving While Growing :
Layoffs are expected in less than a year. I lead a team and as a leader I want to be mindful of not tapping out without taking the project to conclusion. When would be a good time to apply for the next job to still be in a strong position when I interview being I would still be in a job.

So interesting thank you for sharing I did the exact same thing you are describing; left the business, studies for 6 months, work part time in consultancy for 6 and now looking for a new opportunity, the market is tricky. Once I added my consulting everyone started calling me.

I was in a higher position and my contract ended so have taken a back step (only been here a few weeks). I’m concerned about how that will look on my resume so currently not putting it on there while it’s so new. What are your thoughts on that? I fear if recruiters see I’m at a lower level they won’t consider me despite my recent experience.
