I used those pickets to build a mantle for my fireplace. 20 bucks including the boards to mount it on

Hey! If I may suggest, use the exterior grade glue. The “red” is for interior , but the green is for interior/ exterior. Best bang for your buck and last longer! I love the look of these 10/10! Can’t wait to see what else you do.

Great job! I might build some of my own after seeing this! If I could offer a little advice to anyone wanting to do this it would be: 1) Let the pickets cure a few weeks to let the pressure treating chemicals dry out more and 2) Prime and paint your boards before assembling. This will make sure all surfaces are sealed and make them last a lot longer! Amazing, easy project though. Thanks for sharing! 😁

I hate to say this- but you used rough sawn wood- this will rot over time very quickly- you want to use cedar- it’s more expensive but will last 30 years - also when you cut with saw- you should flip board around- having longer piece on that side can flip up and hurt you-

Looks great! Where can you find straight fence pickets? I have looked at HD and Lowe’s but they are all either curly, bent warped or full of holes.

Can you share what you used for spacers? And did you just drill into the siding?
