@elly.psychologist: If you're in an emotionally abusive relationship and can't leave yet, there are still ways to protect your own mind while you're in it. The first is learning to stop justifying, arguing, defending, or explaining yourself when disagreements happen. It feels instinctive, especially when you know you're right, but in an emotionally abusive relationship there's always another comeback waiting, and each round just gives them more to work with. Walking away from a conversation going nowhere isn't losing, it's refusing to keep feeding it. The second is holding tightly to who you actually are, separate from how you're being treated. An emotionally abusive relationship has a way of turning normal human imperfections into proof that something's fundamentally wrong with you, and those are not the same thing. Wanting to grow is healthy. Being made to feel broken is not. The third is protecting anything that's genuinely yours outside the relationship, work, friendships, things you enjoy doing. These are often the first things that quietly shrink in an emotionally abusive relationship, because they're what remind you there's a whole person underneath it. Holding onto even small pieces of that keeps the trapped feeling from taking over completely, and gives you something solid to stand on when you are ready to leave Official accounts and resources: www.ellyanastasiades.com #emotionallyabusiverelationship #relationshipabuse #emotionalabuse #relationshiptips #relationshiptok
