so many people are racist to Indians without even realising they’re being racist and it genuinely drives me insane, at least where i live i feel like people are a lot more aware of racism to black people but when it comes to Indians people don’t even register that what they’re saying is racist. I am a woman of color, I have thought about this too. The concept of gender has existed longer than when we could’ve even known other races existed. That and the fact that with self-improving racists they learned to think “this is wrong because the only difference between us and them is how we look” but men justify sexism by blaming it on the differences between male and female bodies biologically. Social Darwinism did allow white people to think black people were biologically inferior too, but eventually that was debunked and outgrown. Those two factors support what I think you’re trying to articulate.

Unfortunately this is the same for a lot of white women about racism and a lot of queer people about non queerphobic forms of discrimination. People just generally don’t like acknowledging when they benefit from these systems

I have never faulted a POC for disliking me because of my skin because I have seen how my friends were treated differently due to theirs and know that it is systemic and they are right to be cautious.

i realised when i was 11 during the BLM movement. i was a pretty dumb kid and never connected the dots that the n-word and slavery existed because of racism and i hadn’t seen the extent of the oppression they faced. i learned to hate from my parents but i’m glad i realised early on and changed
