The ost is what gives s1 that larger than life feeling, it rlly thrusts you better into the fantasy mystery aspect of re zero than any of the other seasons imo, and i think it’s that weird feeling specifically that makes s1 feel the way it does even though I like the content of other seasons more it just feels so grand

It’s the direction aswell, how they focus in on characters how perspectives are used and how lighting is used is all a lot different to the later seasons I think that causes the biggest difference out of everything

i think it’s because rezero was a breath of fresh air compared to other isekai, it’s not like all the other generic isekai and it just had a beautiful beginning and it felt so fresh and clean to watch considering the fact they didn’t put that much attention into the animation due to them thinking it wasn’t going to do well back then
