Sports in general is just hard as an empath/deeply uncompetitive person. Every win is someone else’s loss. Every great day is someone else’s worst. And all over a silly fun game. Why do we want to do this to ourselves?? I love the energy of a whole city or country coming together in excitement and joy, but I think we need to be able to totally walk away from any negative emotions at losses. All we should focus on is the good and fun stuff. So you lost? Who cares. Only one team can win. It’s a bad setup from the jump. So just enjoy the experience and appreciate that some people got to play a silly game at a high level and everyone else got to have a little fun watching, and just let go of everything else. It’s like when I play board games with kids and I have to explain that it truly does not matter who wins or loses; the only thing to at actually matters is that we had fun playing together.

I’m 2 weeks postpartum and my anxiety has been too bad to watch anything w conflict so been watching jeopardy, nature documentaries and fifa…up until the knockout rounds bc it felt like no one was really losing during the first few rounds bc they still had a chance. Now it’s too stressful to see teams lose 🥲
