From someone who is getting into very low-level politics (my town’s school board), the officials can give me all the data I want- because that’s their job. But, it’s my kitchen cabinet that keeps me informed as to what that data MEANS. Data without meaning is useless, and understanding without data is nothing more than an opinion. For example, the data shows that our graduation rates are dropping. My kitchen cabinet can tell me that those rates are dropping because of X, Y, or Z. That allows me to design solutions that address the root of the problem. Now, does this get abused? ABSOLUTELY. It’s why the elected official has to have morals and integrity.

I’m guessing most administrations are like this throughout our history. I often wonder where the real decisions are made cause it’s obviously not coming from cabinet members nor congress for the last 30 years
