Communism explicitly rejects idealism and the premise you smuggled in that greed and tribalism are part of human nature. In fact most serious marxists reject the concept of "human nature" altogether and would point out that those traits only appear as part of a superstructure flowing from a base of the material conditions of capitalism and would change with them.

Marx himself noticed that we consistently tend to go above and beyond these base desires to build societies.
