Panerai has had 47mm all the way back to 1930’s. The Longines Lindbergh had a 47mm case in 1931. Omega, Universal Geneve, IWC, A Lange & Sohne all had watches 40mm and above in the 1950’s. It’s not a 2000’s phenomenon. If you have a small wrist want to wear a smaller watch, go for it.

36 is the best size, 39 is the max size everything else is either to small or to big. Even if you have a huge wrist more than 39 looks like these weird giant diesel watches

Got into watches right when cases started getting huge. I've got a smaller wrist, so I haven't been a buyer in years. I'm stoked that brands are getting back to traditional case sizes. Finally able to start getting some watches!

As a very tall guy 41 mm is perfect for me. That being said I see 41s on smaller wrists and they just look oversized.
