Mandated nurse to patient ratios being law as well as break nurses to take over your patients when you leave the floor should be the bare minimum.

We have to be lab techs, CNA, dietary, PT/OT, PT, pharmacy, chaplains and babysitters… then have outrageous taxes taken out our checks or taxes on bonuses if we even get them.

one night I have 5 patients, 4 of which has heparin drips. I programmed one of the pumps wrong and got a med error written up. part of the paperwork I had to do was come up with a possible solution to prevent this problem from happening in the future...I wrote, "not having 4 patients with heparin drips assigned to one nurse"
