I just turned 50. I started at 23. 23yr old me only did 6% for years to get full Match. As my salary increased..my student debt paid off.. i increased my %. Today I’m maxing out Roth & 401. Starting early even if it’s not much makes a HUGE difference. At 50 I can take my foot off the gas and now save more In more liquid accounts

MAX OUT 401k, bc you’ll end up spending it anyways. Might as well be investing it

Wife and I max Roth IRAs. Max my 401k with 14% Roth 4% traditional. We put about 30k in a taxable brokerage too for flexibility;

Plus, if you have kids and you pass, it goes to them if you put a will and list them. That's transferring generational wealth to them.

Fully vested. Employer contributes 7% regardless of my contribution. Total invested across all of my retirement accounts is 20%. Nobody will ever convince me to not prepare for the future!
