@bigmouthrocknews: One year ago today, Ozzy Osbourne took to the stage for the final time as part of Back to the Beginning at Villa Park in Birmingham—a farewell concert that celebrated both his legendary solo career and the band that started it all, Black Sabbath. Held just a few miles from where Black Sabbath formed in 1968, the show reunited Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward on stage for the first time in two decades. It was the final live performance of both Ozzy as a solo artist and Black Sabbath as a band. Despite battling Parkinson’s disease and performing from his now-iconic throne, Ozzy delivered an emotional solo set featuring I Don’t Know, Mr. Crowley, Suicide Solution, Mama, I’m Coming Home and Crazy Train, before returning later with Black Sabbath for one final goodbye. The event became one of the biggest celebrations in heavy metal history, featuring appearances from Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, Halestorm and countless other artists who came together to honour the band that changed rock music forever. All profits were donated to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorns Children’s Hospice. Just 17 days later, Ozzy sadly passed away, making Back to the Beginning not only his final concert, but one of the most emotional moments in rock history.
