The linguistic precision of the Qur’an is breathtaking. When Allah speaks about provision (rizq), He says: ﴿فَامْشُوا فِي مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا مِن رِّزْقِهِ﴾ “So walk among its slopes and eat of His provision.” — Surah Al-Mulk (67:15) Allah tells us to walk. Take the means. Work. Strive. Be patient. But when Allah speaks about forgiveness, He says: ﴿وَسَارِعُوا إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ﴾ “Race toward forgiveness from your Lord.” — Surah Āl ʿImrān (3:133) Not walk. Race. Do not delay repentance. Do not postpone returning to Allah. Then comes something even more powerful. When Allah speaks about Himself, He says: ﴿فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ﴾ “So flee to Allah.” — Surah Adh-Dhāriyāt (51:50) Not walk. Not race. Flee. Run with your heart to Him. Look at this beautiful balance. • The dunya deserves your footsteps. • Forgiveness deserves your urgency. • But Allah deserves your entire heart. Because He is the One who grants both your provision and your forgiveness. SubḥānAllah. And perhaps this is why, after standing before Him in prayer, Allah reminds us: ﴿فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَانتَشِرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَابْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ﴾ “When the prayer has concluded, disperse through the land and seek the bounty of Allah.” Surah Al-Jumuʿah (62:10) First, stand before the Provider. Then, walk through His earth.
