I have no idea how to answer the pain scale question. I feel like it’s almost a trick question.

The ER where I live won’t even give pain meds for broken bones, they had a nurse that worked at said ER for 25 years that came in with chest pain, they sent her to the waiting room where she had a heart attack and died. I don’t think it really matters what you tell them, they don’t give a shit

I do all six of these after years of learning and they all work well to getting pain managed and issues looked at quickly!

I just cry in all of my appointments. I can barely get through anything without crying because I’m in so much pain.

I don’t know I think I can justifiably say everything hurts. I have fibro in addition to severe back issues.

Excellent advice! I've found that sometimes, asking too many questions can result in your health care provider becoming defensive. No matter what language you use. 🥼⚕️🗣️🤨

This is such great advice. I moved from the U.S. to Austria in October, and I’ve been able to get the medication I need here without a lot of problems. But I’m so conditioned after years of living in the U.S. where I always felt like a criminal because of my pain and opiate prescriptions that I find it’s really effected my communication with my prescriber in a way that’s not helpful. This was a great reminder!

Treat every appointment like it’s in the record for your SSDI trial. Never minimize. Talk about your worst days. They need to know the big picture.

I like #5. I hate the, as do most chronic pain people, the 1 - 10 levels. I try to explain why it's an 8 or 10.

I always feel like I have to say that I’m feeling ok and everything is fine or else they will try to switch my treatment to Suboxone. I’m afraid to be honest because I m worried they will switch my regiment to something that doesn’t work at all.

Except for everything does hurt. I literally have pain all throughout my body and minimizing that by only talking about the specific location that's hurting the worst at that moment is not helping me at all nor is it helping the doctor know that I have pain everywhere
