I gotta channel more of this “just eat the bagel” energy when I have the opportunity because I feel like I’m constantly doing something or in my head with what needs to be done that it’s really difficult to pause.  I know it’s not, but a moment to myself can feel “wasteful.” Can anyone relate? I know I should feel free to pour into myself in order to pour into my family, but as moms we are so willing to give that we may not remember what it feels like to give to ourselves. I felt guilty taking a moment to eat without also doing something else simultaneously. On this day, we were visiting my parents and my mom suggested that the kids can eat a quick breakfast outside with them while we get things ready. In theory, sounds great, but I hesitated because we only had 20 min to spare. @dantransform even said he thinks we should just load them up and eat in the car so we’re not late, but I insisted we had time. Spoiler alert: he was right! The house was freakishly quiet. So quiet that it felt chaotic in my head because while Dan was working before he loaded the car, I started thinking about everything on my to-do list and also that I was missing out on the kids outside. As I was eating my bagel, thinking I had time, I still had trouble just being present. Looking back, I felt so unproductive just eating my bagel, that I felt the need to make content to make the time “worth it.” That’s not how I want to feel. In the end, I wish I could say that I’m glad I took the 2 minutes because we weren’t late. Haha but we were late! I’m still working on juggling self-care in ways that feel valuable and productive to me so that I can re-learn how to feel fully present when pouring into myself. What are ways that work for you?
