Ni-ki stood beside the monitor, leaning casually against the counter as he scrolled through the photos you were showing him. "This one's good," he murmured after a moment. "This one's... really good." He swiped to the next image, stopping on one a little longer than usual. "I didn't know this was how you saw me." You glanced at him briefly. "Professionally." "You're lying," he replied without hesitation. You let out a quiet snort but didn't deny it. At the same time, the other members walked past, but this time no one commented as loudly as before. They only stole quick glances and pretended they weren't looking at all. Once you finished reviewing the photos, the manager took the rest of the files, and the atmosphere became much more relaxed. That was your moment. You reached into your bag. Before you could change your mind, you slipped a folded piece of paper into his hand. Ni-ki looked down at it immediately. "What's this?" "Open it." He unfolded it slowly. An address. A time. His eyes lifted to yours at once. "What's this supposed to be?" You hesitated for a second. "A debt." He narrowed his eyes slightly. "For what?" "For giving me a place to sleep." For a moment, he didn't say anything. He just looked at you with that calm, slightly too-observant gaze of his. "I thought you'd already paid me back with the photos." "That wasn't the same." Silence. Someone shouted something from the other end of the studio, but neither of you paid any attention. Eventually, he sighed softly and slipped the note into the pocket of his hoodie. "Alright." You blinked. "Alright?" "I'll come." A small smile spread across his face. "But I'm warning you—if this is dinner, I have standards." "It's not dinner." "Then what is it?" You hesitated before answering. "A rematch." His smile only grew wider. "That sounds like something I'd enjoy." ──★ It was already late in the evening when you heard the doorbell. Rain had started falling again, softly tapping against the hallway window. You opened the door. Ni-ki stood on the doorstep, slightly sweaty after dance practice, his hair messy and a duffel bag slung over one shoulder. "Am I late?" he asked immediately. "No." He stepped inside without much hesitation, as if your apartment was already becoming familiar to him. He stopped in the hallway and looked around. "It's nice here." "Do you say that about everyone's apartment?" "No." He looked at you briefly. "Only yours." You rolled your eyes, though this time there wasn't any irritation behind it. You walked into the kitchen, and he followed, setting his bag down on a chair. "Just got back from practice?" you asked. "Yeah." "You look like you're about to collapse." "Give me another five minutes and I probably will." You chuckled softly and opened the refrigerator. "Good thing you're here instead of locked in your room like you're in a cage." He turned toward you immediately. "Why?" You hesitated before shrugging. "Because you're staying here tonight anyway." Silence. Ni-ki raised an eyebrow. "I'm staying?" "Yeah. Weren't you supposed to spend the night?" For a second, he looked at you as if he were trying to figure out whether you were joking. Then... "Oh. Right." Calmly, he walked over to his bag and unzipped it. "I actually... came prepared." You froze. "What do you mean?" He pulled out a black tank top and a pair of loose sweatpants. "Spare clothes." You stared at him. "You... planned on staying?" "I didn't plan it." He paused. "I just assumed." A faint smile appeared on his lips, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "After practice, I didn't feel like going back home... and I figured it was quieter here." You sighed, unable to hide the tiny smile tugging at your lips. "You're unbelievable."
