it's funny because every other post here on tiktok is people complaining how jobs don't pay well. you have apparently people with master's degree with 4.0 gpas from Cornell University that can't get a job at Walmart. and so with that being said if someone has figured out how to pay their bills with real estate investments then how is that a bad idea? I personally still own the first property I bought when I was 23 years old. that property makes the payment on the house I live in now. In 4 years when I pay this one off, I will buy another. When I die my kids will have a place to live forever. Or they can sell the Newest home and each put a down payment on a home of their own. I have sacrificed and worked hard all my life to leave something behind for them.

As an investor I don’t put money in loosing investments. If I can’t rent a house for a profit, why am I going to subsidize someone to live there? I did not build something to loose money on it and make my life more difficult.

I don’t know if you know this I didn’t know this until recently, but there are hundreds maybe even thousands of apartments empty in New York because of the last rent freeze and it’s cheaper for the owner to leave them empty than to rent them out because if he rent them out, he’s gotta rehab them and that cost money and the apartment that wouldn’t generate enough money to rehab it so they just leave an empty and take the Tax cut on it.

Its crazy all the landlords complaining that the freeze will make them unable to afford their properties yet theyre saying they'll leave it empty. So they can afford it without any rent at all. Thats not adding up

Yes - if the city is going to require thousands in upgrades to rent and tell me what I can charge - cheaper to not rent it out

let's make this very simple to understand let's us say for 1 apartment it cost $9,600 a year for maintenance upkeep and taxes so the land lord rent it out for $900 a month which is $10,800 a year getting $1,200 a year on that apartment now government comes and says landlord is not allowed to raise the rent and next year the cost for maintenance and the taxes go up costing $11,000 for that year since he can not raise the rent he now loses $200 how is a landlord supposed to eat and take care of them selves if that applies to 10 apartments he owns losing every year $2,000

Well when the government requires landlords to do certain things that cost money, then doesn't let the landlord charge enough to cover the money outlay, yes. they will. why would anyone intentionally throw money away?

What’s the job got to do with it? If they own a home to rent out, they have a job. They are saying that it’s cheaper to leave it vacant than rent it out. Fact…it would be cheaper and let head aches

Absolutely! No one can foce you to rent. Theres tax breaks on vacant apts. it’s actually cheaper to leave vacant under the current rules. Go look at how many buildings are vacant in areas with rent freeze.

Renting is a business, if no one is living there they are operating at a loss, which will be written off on their taxes. Awe
