I do wonder how ref would do if it had better stores… I’ve only ever had pretty negative experiences shopping in store (limited inventory, dirty make up covered clothes, long wait times, limited locations near me no matter where I am) so I kind of trained myself to only shop ref online. Perhaps this saves them from the death trap of the general decline in brick & mortar retail sales?

I was an OG Ref fan back when they were a shop on the LES. My issue with them is that they continue to market themselves as sustainable but they feel like fast fashion between the trendiness of the styles and the frequency of the drops. I cannot imagine who is investing in this.

Allbirds/Everlane merchandise just became dated. They did not appeal to Gen Z, and even millennials moved on. Who is wearing 2010s style normcore and corporate minimalism in 2026? Outdoor Voices had bad leadership.
