@hurggg_: Joachim Peiper (1915–1976) was a German Waffen-SS officer. From 1938 to 1941, he served as the personal adjutant of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, accompanying him on official visits and handling confidential correspondence. In December 1944, Peiper commanded Kampfgruppe Peiper, the main armored spearhead of the German offensive during the Battle of the Bulge. His unit achieved rapid advances but was ultimately forced to retreat after running out of fuel and facing strong Allied resistance. Peiper was later convicted for his command responsibility in the Malmedy Massacre, where members of his battle group murdered American prisoners of war. His death sentence was later commuted, and he was released in 1956. He died in France in 1976 after his home was attacked and set on fire by unknown assailants. This content is shared strictly for historical and educational purposes. Joachim Peiper served in the Waffen-SS, part of the SS, which was declared a criminal organization by the Nuremberg Tribunal in 1946. This post does not endorse or promote National Socialism or the actions of the SS. #fyp #History #edit #ww2 #germany

Amina :
He was a smart, hard-working patriot who volunteered early on with his older brother to try to help their country. He pursued a woman older than him whom he genuinely respected for her character and shared values. He was a devout husband and father his whole life, maintaining a close relationship with her.
His older brother died in the war, and Joachim had a panic attack from what he saw at the front. When the trial was used to try to embarrass the German people, he took full responsibility for all actions of his subordinates, including the ones against his orders.
His wife wrote in a letter to their children that living with him during those final years were some of their most cherished times together before he sent her away for her safety when communist threats became too great. His son became a lawyer in New York.

When he realized the communists were coming to kill him, he used his final moments to write a letter thanking his wife for being his lifelong companion. He married an older woman for her character. Throughout his life, he called her his “best friend,” “part of himself,” “gallant, courageous, and unflinching” and his “bravest comrade.” She remained fiercely loyal to him, and she and his children continually defended him.
