I lived 5 minutes from here when I worked in DC. for my job and travel, I did this often and I can tell you...its worth it avoiding 95 and having your car.

Once and never again. If we drove, had a good night sleep in a hotel we would have arrived in Florida just 3 hours later then the train. Too many delays, takes forever to get cars on and off the train.

So worth it. I have taken the auto train many times and recommended it to friends. No driving, no stops, no traffic, no accidents, just relax and sleep until you get there. I wish they had it available to go from east to the country to west!

I've done it many times. it is totally convenient. He did not mention that if driving, when you arrive, you are exhausted. On the train, you wake up, have a nice breakfast. have a short nap, then alight the train for a short drive to your destination. No car rental necessary. Warning: the coach seats are cheap, but you get what you pay for....

i first thought "oh thats a pretty good deal" ....its one way , yall. thats 1100 round trip. want to take your family and need a small room? 2750 for mine. I just priced out a decent flight (4hrs) and a rental car for 850 on the same days.

I’ve done the auto train and it was a great experience. Had my own room, packed my car with everything I needed for 4 months. Only issue …. The train is not pet friendly.
