Look for ones that have a field spot (the yellow part) as well as rough webbing from the bees pollinating it. The more webbing, the better.

I’m in Canada, I bought 6 watermelons, followed every tip known to man and they were just awful! Went to Costco and followed the tips and dang they have been bangin!!!! Do I like spending $17 on watermelon? No, but they are huge and can’t last a week I’ve we use self control lol.
