Mosab Ali died as he lived: in service to others. He was martyred one year ago by the occupation when his car was targeted and blown up as he traveled to secure aid for displaced families. “Glory to our martyrs” is not simply a phrase. It is a profound expression of honor, respect, and remembrance for those who gave their lives for Palestine and its people. It is our promise that their sacrifice will not be forgotten. The children of Refaat Alareer Camp all knew Mosab. Even in their tender years, they understand loss. They know too many martyrs. This is what it means to be a child from Gaza. They carry grief that no child should ever have to bear. Through tears and prayers, they remember Mosab. They pray for his soul and for the souls of their own loved ones. They understand that when we honor our martyrs, we keep their spirit alive among us. We carry their stories forward. We refuse to let them be forgotten. Mosab’s kindness touched everyone he met. He treated the camp families as his own family, cared for these children as his own. And you can see the pain that still remains one year after he was taken from us. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact remains and he will continue to have an impact as these children grow to embody what he represented. Glory to our martyrs.
