People only chase good intentions for honor and honor for a sense of being a good person therefore it is shown it’s impossible to have a selfless desire (if someone can prove me wrong do it)

I’ve always hate the motivation topic. By definition you can ONLY ever do something out of self interest. Intentionally or not Dosent matter. For example doing something out of honor, sincerity, or good intentions is still in self interest.

I don’t quite believe in this, but I believe in something similar. Think of a dog, when you’re first training him to sit. When he listens, you give him treats to encourage the positive behavior. The dog does it out of self-interest for the treat. Over time, you no longer need to give him treats for him to sit, so the dog isn’t necessarily listening out of self-interest anymore, but it’s hard-wired and trained into his brain deriving from self interest. It is this same thing with human “good intentions,” here. We were praised for being nice and having empathy when we were younger, until we were trained to become that way, when it truly only comes from the original self-interest to be good coming from the praise.

I really don't think it's true. All human decisions are technically self-serving, even if we don't realize it. But also, many of our actions are mutually beneficial. Think about it, it is true that donating to charity makes you feel good about yourself but in turn it supports the well-being of the less fortunate. So is it really selfish?

i don’t disagree that people often act in their own self interest, the problem is the assumption that morality is solely determined by self interest. if every act that benefits the person performing it, is labeled “selfish,” then the term loses its ability to distinguish different kinds of actions. for example jst taking care of yourself or donating to charity, comforting s1, or manipulating someone for money would all be denoted to selfishness because you gained something. that explanation of actions becomes so broad that it eliminates nuance. it’s important to note that moral actions are inherently relational. helping someone cannot occur without another person actually benefiting. if i buy a homeless person food, there are 2 main outcomes, they receive food, and i may feel good that i helped someone. the fact that i experienced satisfaction for that act obviously does not erase their independent benefir. the idea of doing a good act relies on another person’s wellbeing, which means their benefit is part of the reason why we help others, not just an act for pleasure. imo the cynical interpretation of actions reduce acts that involve one’s benefit and one’s satisfaction from aiding others, as purely selfish. those are not the same thing. human motivations are frequently mixed. i can genuinely care about another person while also feeling fulfilled by helping them (no brainer 😭) these motives can coexist without contradicting each other. self interest obviously does involve most actions but the idea that self interest alone is capable of explaining moral behavior is, imo, wrong.

No matter how you think, it will any decisions made by humans come from self-interest. So why bother expecting the worse, which will only tear you down more, when you can hope and dream instead?

Tbh, all good deeds can all be considered to be done due to greed. For example, let’s say donating to charity. You’ll gain praise from social media, you’ll feel much self-worth, and bragging rights. Every move done by humans can be chalked up to greed and self-interest, even if the person’s intentions weren’t meant to be that way.
