@billingbossbysheila: Replying to @Sara Sassenach This comment deserves a conversation. I’ve worked registration in the Emergency Room, and I know firsthand this job is far more than checking patients in. You’re answering phones, registering walk-ins, handling traumas, supporting families during emergencies, verifying insurance, collecting demographics, obtaining signatures, and keeping patients moving, all while trying to prevent errors that may not surface for months. Registration is the first step of the revenue cycle. When we invest in training the front end, we reduce denials, improve the patient experience, and strengthen the entire revenue cycle. Registration professionals deserve better training, better support, and recognition for the critical role they play every single day. Follow me for my Registration Masterclass, where I share the real-world training every registrar deserves. #PatientAccess #RegistrationMasterclass #RevenueCycle #MedicalBilling #HealthcareTraining

As a Registrar Lead, I wish people understood insurance verification doesn’t stop at registration. 😩 Patients come in with no ID/card, don’t know their insurance, or have TWO insurances—and the primary, secondary, and ID can literally have 3 different versions of their name! 🤦🏾♀️Even a missing middle initial or suffix can cause a denial. We’re really playing Inspector Gadget every day trying to get clean claims! 😂

As a Patient Access Manager currently covering an ER Shift for an employee on PTO....THIS! the questions that come from billing as to why we didn't get copies of both sides of their insurance card or confirm whether they wanted to use their veterans benefits or their m
Medicare... oh I don't know Brenda, maybe because they were having an active brain bleed and that seemed like a lower priority issue while clinical staff was sedating for intubation prior to transfer. But you're right I absolutely should have gone through all their pockets to determine whether their wallet was there so I could determine and collect copay.

As a Lead who trains all the new registrars for our outpatient radiology offices. People are always so shocked at how much is involved with working the front desk. We definitely deserve more money and more recognition!

I do night shift in the ER and im tried of people not bringing their insurance cards and expecting me to magically find their info. yes I understand forgetting your cards in a true emergency but if your coming in cuz you stubbed your toe or you have a sore throat thats where I get annoyed if you dont bring your insurance card

I work reg in the ED. When I get asked why I didn’t scan a card, oh I don’t know. Maybe because the police brought in a drunk guy and he didn’t have his card on him at the bar. Maybe that.

I have been begging for more actual insurance training at work. I was thrown into this position and barely know how to interpret half of this stuff. why do some BCBS plans have two different separate places? how do I know what tier provider I am? and I get lectured whenever I ask for clarity 😐

Converted to Epic 14 years ago. I was a Reg Super User then. I’ve since been a Patient Access Reg Manager, Director, Billing Manager, and now Manger of Epic build teams for ADT/Prelude, Grand Central, Welcome and Cadence. I have always said Reg is SO much more than “data entry”. I am loving your videos! THANK YOU!!👏

Me on my day off getting an email about patients insurance, Medicare being found on Noridian and MVA forms… like seriously??? I stayed almost an hour past my shift because we’re shortstaffed and somebody needed a lunch. I didn’t stay and follow through with any of those patients. I only checked them in… I was one person at an ER desk. And I only stayed because my manager over the phone rudely and sarcastically asked me why I can’t just stay 15 minutes….
