as a stylist myself, when someone in your chair starts crying like this, go mama bear mode. hey sweetie what's wrong, do you need some water, tell me what's troubling you, etc etc. make everyone feel good when they sit on your chair no matter the circumstances. we sometimes have to become therapists too.

Immediately after we lost our home to a tornado, I cried in the hairstylist’s chair. It was the first time in weeks I had sat still and was trying to process what had happened. She was lovely and she gave me a great big hug afterwards. I felt so bad for crying like that but she handled it so well. Really the kindest person and I needed a kind person.

I was this customer to another salon. I was having severe anxiety and walked in to the salon bawling. The sweet older stylist washed my hair, cut off 4 inches and put some mousse in my hair. It was the first time in over a year I’d done anything for myself in terms of hair care.

Yesterday I saw the lady whose story it originally came from. the reason for her crying was she was being bullied at work by older ladies.... as someone who has been bullied i think the message and being kind just felt like a release. She was just probably so overwhelmed
